Very fun fish photo Jon! So now I know that next time I better tell the fish to pose for me on a chair or something outside of the water.. lol.. I faced this problem at the Aquarium of Monterey Bay all day long and it is frustrating! Lovely work! v.

My husband and I had a lovely trip to Paris and southern France last July. While on a bus trip we were able to take a photo of this cafe that we share a name with. Our photo was a little blurry and not good for enlargement. Your wonderful photo now hangs in our own kitchen as a nice reminder of that trip. It is beautiful and of very good quality. We love it. Thank you Mary Flore

This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

Artist's Description

Visibility under water depends on the amount of light reaching the particular depth. Illumination itself depends on the thickness of the water layer and on the reflection and scatter of light rays in the water medium. Part of the light coming from the sun is reflected by the surface of the water and the amount of reflected light depends on the angle between the rays and the surface of the water, also, on the quantity of air bubbles in the surface layer that have been formed by the motion of the water

The most important reason for the low visibility under water is the weakening of the refraction capability of human eyes. In the open air, it is sufficient because the refraction quotient of light is 1 and that of the human optical system is 1.38. Water has a refraction quotient of 1.33, very close to that of the eyes

Light is absorbed as it passes through the water, and much of it is lost in the process. In addition, the spectral components of light, the wavelengths...

About Jon Burch Photography

Jon Burch Photography

Photography is all about using light to capture the emotion and beauty of a fleeting moment. For me, this adventure began with a single spring image using a small Kodak film camera of a freshly watered central Kansas ditch and has come full circle using modern digital techniques. My first camera was acquired by trading an ancient Royal typewriter to a fellow college student who was desperate to finish a term paper. It was a long time ago and that camera was my passport to an art that has fascinated me ever since. I owned and operated a professional studio in central Kansas for 20 years and moved to Colorado in 1994. Part of the studio's early success came from creating outdoor portraiture using controlled lighting...
