This horse and the rest of the herd were on public land east of Cody, Wyoming. Access to the horses was via a dirt road through rolling hills. Our timing was perfect. Had we arrived 10 to 15 minutes earlier, the horses would have been over a hill and out of sight. The road we were on ended at a creek at the base of the hill. Had we been 15 minutes later, the herd would have traveled out of sight and we likely would not have seen them at all. Luck played a big part in our getting to see and photograph these wonderful animals.
