5/5/2015. Ms. Schmidt: I rarely use the word 'unique,' but I think I can use it regarding "Wind World." This is the first painting I have seen that uses non-fractal images of fractals in a non-fractal painting. You have not only succeeded in accomplishing this feat but you have treated fractals themselves in a totally new way. In 'Wind World' you have 'animated' two representations of fractals. They appear to be living beings--I see bison--rushing at a tornado as if wishing to physically attack it. If this surmise is true, what happens as a result of such an assault? Is the tornado, in this metaphor, alive as well? What is it thinking? Are the fractals going to decimate tornadoes in an all-out war? You have truly broken new ground with this painting. I would encourage you to make more paintings exploring these themes. Al Fresko. ________

I was of the mind that the twister gains its strength from the monuments (which I see as sort of futuristic energy-storing windmills) as it gobbles them up... a sort of wind speed spinach to a cyclonic Popeye. I am sooooooo diggin' that we have opposite views as to the side of the aggressor, it exemplifies the very best of that which we call art :)

Brava Susan! Your artwork is featured in Women Who Run With the Wolves.

This is a great picture. Shout out to John Boyd on his photography. The mig of this however is blurry and I’m disappointed. The original picture is not blurry, so I’m not sure why the print is.

This mug came out great. It’s a gift for my Dad. Thank you John Boyd and fine Arts America.

I love the mug because of the photo, the color I chose and the mug size. The only negatives are that while I knew the photo was small, it's a little too narrow. I have a Marilyn mug that I did not buy online, and it spans the entire mug as two copycat photos. Also, the inside of the mug is not smooth as most mugs are. Otherwise, it's fine, as is its price.

Nice but picture is too narrow to be viewed properly

Artist's Description

"Wind World" A vibrantly colored surrealist art image of a violent tornado as it spins across a flat plain on an alien world, destroying one of three windmill-like monuments. I used a palette of bright orange, purple, blue, gold and green to achieve my vision of the alien landscape. The tornado is actually a photograph of an F4 twister I took as I watched it happen live on a storm chaser's livestream, which wreaked havoc in Illinois in April 2015. Please visit my Painted with Pixels art gallery to see all my digital artwork. This artwork is available in a variety of framed and unframed gallery-quality giclee prints, home decor items such as velvety soft duvet covers, fabric shower curtains, and square and rectangular decorative throw pillows, as well as greeting cards and tote bags. 8.21.16 Dreamscape Contest: 3rd Place (tie) 5.19.16 Space and Aliens Contest: 3rd Place (tie) 1.14.16 Best Surreal Sci-Fi Contest: 2nd Place (tie) 1.14.16 Surreal and Fantasy Pantings: 3rd Place (tie) 1....
