Description
It’s amazing to me but I painted this over 20 years ago! I was 16 at the time. I became obsessed with winning the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Competition. Year after year I entered. I never won first place, but I did learn how to paint. My mom was my patient teacher during this time. This and the Wood Duck No. 2 were painted from photographs that I took at the Los Angeles Arboretum. There are still wood ducks there every winter and spring!

Danielle Rosaria replied:
Thank you, Bonnie! I wanted so much to learn to paint that I took a really long time on this one. I was super competitive back then too! Painting ducks this way served as my art education. :-)
