Chicago's iconic Wrigley Building, known for its soaring clock tower, sparkling white terra-cotta cladding, well-proportioned architecture and nighttime lighting, has been home to the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. for nearly a hundred years. It is one of the most famous Chicago landmarks, celebrated in numerous movies, on postcards and in songs like 'My Kind of Town'.
Built in the early 1920s by the founder of the famous Wrigley's chewing gum company, the gleaming structure, modeled after the Seville Cathedral's Giralda Tower in Spain, is a graceful synthesis of diverse stylistic sources (Spanish, Renaissance, French and Chicago School). As "The Gateway to the Magnificent Mile," the building sits directly across from its famous counterpart, the Tribune Tower, just north of the Chicago River on Michigan Avenue.
This is Chicago's jewel, like a resplendent white diamond that appears as a vision when it's first in your sights - an unforgettable site - day and night - for Chicago residents and visitors. It takes your breath away.
