I bought this in the greeting card form. I have been purchasing cards from Fine Art America for two or three years. Covid might have been some of the reason for looking for cards on the internet. Shops were closed. The main reason I buy cards from FAA is because I got tired of looking for cards at the usual card shops. I could find cards (sometimes) that looked good on the outside but the verses were terrible or it was the other way around...terrible on the outside but maybe a decent verse inside. I pick cards from FAA that fit with the occasion. I figure I can write something on the inside as good as any card company could. I wouldn't buy these cards if I didn't think they were wonderful. The cards are beautiful and excellent quality and the envelopes are equality as good. I am glad I can make a copy of what I've bought so I can keep track of who gets what card. I don't want to send the same card to someone twice. In this case, the card is going to someone for Mother's Day.

Cape Hinchinbrook Lighthouse in Alaska has had a stormy history. The original lighthouse was designed by Carl W. Leick but fell victim to two separate earthquakes.
The second lighthouse was put on line in 1934. The remains of the first were pushed over a cliff after salvaging the lantern room and Fresnel lens to be used on the 2nd structure. Edward Laird designed this version.
The routine assignment was for one year's duration. Isolation and human tempers became the hardest elements to face. Provisions were brought in by boat. That always included a sack of U.S. Mail. Ship to shore radio was imperative to keep operational. Even the companionship of a dog was subject to the rules of the high command. One crew was told to, "Put down", their dogs before leaving Cape Hinchinbrook. With heavy hearts, the command was followed.
The art deco design of the 1934 tower and buildings is of reinforced cement. This facility was reconstructed during the height...
Art is in the eye of the beholder. I will not write in the third person here. That sounds pretentious and, most of the time, inaccurate. Being in the last third of my life, it becomes clear good health is the finest gift possible. Again, nature provides the most beautiful inspirations. Walk into your own garden. Stroll a beach or a path in the woods. Watch the sun and clouds or a kitten playing with a piece of string. Pay attention to the faces you see...they each tell their own story. Create something wonderful that has a piece of your own heart on it. The emotions that drive us human beings also drive our art. The viewer is respectfully reminded my works are copyright protected. Please visit me often. Kindest...

This is a most unusual lighthouse Anne - it look almost like a rocket ready to take off from Cape Canaveral!! But in your inimitable style, you've created another masterpiece with such exceptional detail that I feel as if I could just step up and open the door!! Wow - I love this. F/V
Anne Norskog replied:
Again, my thanks LiAnne. I researched this one very thoroughly before painting it. The grandson of the designer contacted me when this was first put up: he bought a large print and several card sized issues for members of his family. I was very pleased, to say the very least, to have made such a nice connection to a fine family through my art.--Anne
