About Alanna Hug-McAnnally
Thank you so much for visiting my site. It's been an unusual journey on my way to painting. Due to an illness when I was 40 - over 2 decades ago - I had to quit working. One day I went to a large mall and was happily surprised by an art show/competition. While looking at all the paintings (about 1,000 in all), I was drawn to one particular artist. It turned out she was the teacher to 1/2 of the artists there. Having told her I was degreed in opera and concert, she immediately told me: "If you are in one of the arts, you are in all of them." That turned out to be true, and it turned out I could paint. Since then, I have been in jurried competitions, came in second in my first and first in my second. One is now in a museum, a gift...

Marina - I just looke at your site - the gorgeous colors and period dresses. Stunning! I especiallyl love the paintings depicting the 1930s, as my mom and dad were there in their late twenties and early thirties. Moonlight Sonata is my favorite as I'm a music major (voice/opera & concert), and Moonlight Sonata was my favorite piece to play on piano. So your paintings truly bring back wonderful memories of mom and dad and my more musical days. Thank you so very much for your lovely comments. This is a favorite of mine also as it was my first time with glass. PHEW Again, your comments were truly appreciated. :D I'm going to put you on my watch list.

Bobby - my Urdu is non-existent but in Arabic I say - Es salaam wa aleakum. Thank you so very much (shukrahn jazeelan) for your lovely comment on my champagne and fruit. It hangs in my neice's kitchen - an appropriate place for it. Just finished looking at your site - and your portraits are stunning. You especially capture eyes - such a difficult thing to do. Jenny, I read your bio and it's very interesting! Your site is lovely, and I especially liked the ones with peacock feathers in them. You do have a good eye! Thank you for looking at my horribly blurred (Wal Mart Digital Camera by Kodak). The original photograph was blurred, so I just took my better camera and had to take a pic of a blurred pic. EGADS Think I'll paint it again for me. I very much appreciate your lovely comments. Thank you.

An elegant image, Alanna, love the dreamy feeling and this accidental blur! The purple and peach tones just a visual delight!

Anne-Elizabeth - thank you. I'm surprised you could see it as it's so out of focus. My neice has this, so think I will paint it again someday and replace the pic. Also, I appreciate you looking at my site. Have a lovely day.
