This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

We were disappointed that the name of the artist is cut off and not showing in full. We feel the name of the artist is an important part of it and would love to have it rectified

We live in the desert so the Palm theme resonates. The color scheme is brilliant and perfect. We would like to see more from this artist. Where do we look?

Artist's Description
The original of this painting is hanging in the administration building at McConway & Torley in Pittsburgh, along with 10 others of key processes in the production of railroad couplers. The worker depicted, Dave, is a lead grinder with many years experience at the plant. I sketched him working, and took many reference photos, as he tried to keep me from being stung by the sparks. I completed the actual painting in my studio. I love the cool factory light, and the heat of the sparks flying off the grinding wheel. I am proud that those who know Dave can recognize him from this painting, even with all of his protective layers.
About Martha Ressler
I see my art quilts as impressions of place – real or imagined. I like to include items discarded by humans as a kind of archeological thumbprint. An object discarded or lost might merge with pages of timeworn books or sheet music, or swatches of rescued embroidery, linens or clothing. Along with “found images” and fabrics they are reborn in a stitched story about human imprints on the earth, evidence of new and old secrets there to be discovered or imagined. I am a Juried Artist Member (JAM) of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA). I have been sewing since I was 13, and was a painter before turning to art quilts. They attracted me because of the possibilities for texture and dimension. My main method of construction is called...

THIS WORK IS WORTH PART OF MOST INFLUENCING COLLECTION WITH A ABSTRACTIVE CONTENT. I ENJOY THE FLOW, THE WORK PUT INTO IT...& YOUR FLUX WITH US HERE ! Lets talk enough about good stuff like this.
Martha Ressler
Thank you for your comments, everyone. The commissioned series I did for McConway and Torley meant a lot to me. I insisted on depicting each worker as an individual, not a generic entity. The supervisors pointed out the very best grinder, and I worked with him to get this picture of him in action. He was trying not to hit me with the sparks. I really didn't care, as I used to work in factories myself and was familiar with the sting.
Iris Devadason
Your fingers are like a camera's lens.Unbelievable realism !

You're the real deal, girl! ;) Like it a lot!
Don Perino
I swear I can hear the grinder and see the sparks flying! You did an amazing job capturing the energy and action.
