When deep in the woods or out on the tundra, my smallness becomes apparent in comparison to the immensity of creation. Therefore, in many of my drawings I strive to depict some trace of the brief influence of man or beast within the ageless ambiance of the location. Rendering each complex area of beautifully entwined branches and twigs correctly can take hundreds of hours and I find this experience of contrasting the textures and dark tones of the trees against the clean whiteness of snow to be visually satisfying.
