My colored pencil and watercolor paintings tend to veer towards a more realistic style. I like to create pieces that are beautiful, not art that necessarily tells a story. I usually work from a photograph but feel as though I can take liberties with colors that might not show in the original reference photo, which I have done with Blue and Watercolor Dahlia. I also tend to render items that I am drawn to. Flowers are one of my favorite subjects as well as the still life. Rendering portraits is also something I am drawn to. If you want to have a portrait consultation, please use the contact link to email me.
The colored pencil works featured on the site are time consuming and laborious, created by the building of layers of colors. Each piece can take weeks or even months to complete and it's the process that I enjoy the most as a colored pencil artist. Of course, I still look forward to seeing the completed project!
