Bankole Olayiwola Abe was born at Ijero-Ekiti, Nigeria. Trained as a painter, textile designer, printer, lithographer and graphic artist, he is a versatile experimentalist and installation artist who is adept in different media. He studied general art at the Institute of Textile Technology, Arts & Design, Lagos. An African artist whose works over the years increasingly depict a fertile mind steeped in the richness of his ancestral roots. Some of his works emit an aura of the mystical experiences which must have inspired them. He is imbued with a unique style, which he expresses in techniques that best describe his emotions, using natural soil and other unconventional objects as media of expression as well as Ifa symbols as major components in his works.
Presently practicing as full-time Studio Artist at his home-town Ijero-Ekiti and Dafara village in Kuje Area Council, Abuja, Nigeria
He has participated in several group exhibitions and international art workshops.
