ABOUT THE ARTIST: I've had a deep love of art since my early childhood - drawing, coloring, sketching, and painting. I employed a multitude of artistic media as a creative outlet for self-expression, a passion which continues into the present. During my early adolescence, I discovered the boundless creative possibilities and immediate gratification of photography, with a particular affinity for black-and-white techniques, a medium which continues to inspire my creative muse. Equally inspirational are all things which lean toward the avant garde.
EDUCATION: I earned my BBA in Marketing (1993) from the Marshall University Lewis College of Business, Huntington, WV. My passionate interest in the creative and design process and the hyper-consumerism aspect of the commercial and social landscape fueled my business acumen. Intrinsically drawn toward the creative “advertising and graphic design” side of business marketing, I fell immediately in love with the works of the “The High Priest of Pop,“ Andy Warhol.
INSPIRATION: A voracious and obsessive lover of music - everything from Jazz, to Electronica, to Classical - I find listening to music provides the most stimulating muse during the creative process. While listening, I will inevitably make a connection between what I hear and what is taking shape on the canvas. My art work embodies the essential elements shared between the universal harmony of opposites -- life and death; black and white; good and evil; light and dark; attraction and repulsion; love and hate; utopia and dystopia; pleasure and pain -- and is intended to stimulate the artistic intellectual within each of us.
