Claire Desjardins is an award-winning abstract painter who comes from a long line of artists and grew up in Montreal, Canada. She worked for many years as a graphic designer, ensconced in a life of technology and marketing. In 2011, she gave up a regular paycheque to pursue her love of painting full time. She now has a studio in the Laurentians, (an hour north of Montreal) and is represented by galleries in Canada and the States. Claire also sells her original artworks on her own web site, www.clairedesjardins.com.
Claire was selected by Microsoft Canada to be one of six artists that the tech giant is collaborating with. She created product-specific skins especially for their high end devices, the Microsoft Surface. Her colourful designs are reproduced onto apparel for Toronto-based fashion house, Nuvango, and on tech accessories through GelaSkins. U.S. retail chain, Urban Outfitters, sells her original artwork under their Anthropologie banner, online as well as in their New York, Chicago, and Montreal stores. They reproduce her artwork on merchandise and sell it under the Claire Desjardins signature label. Claire’s work has also appears in major motion pictures as well as popular television shows.
Claire teaches painting workshops in both Canada and in the US, and has juried various art competitions. She has been interviewed by CityTV, CBC, The Montreal Gazette, The Ottawa Citizen, and a number of art magazines, among other publications. Her work appears regularly on blogs, including Design for Mankind, ArtFinder, Moco Loco, Design Milk and Saatchi Art’s online magazine.
In an effort to give back, Claire regularly participates in charitable events. She has live-painted on stage with the likes of Randy Bachman and Blue Rodeo. In August 2017, she did the same with 80s super group, Styx, and donated 100% of the proceeds to help sick kids.
In Spring 2019, Claire will be launching her new label of art apparel, Claire Desjardins, which will be sold in stores across the US and in Canada.
Her work can be found in both private and corporate collections around the world.
