I paint in an impressionistic style with oils. After choosing the subject matter (which is always of a peaceful nature) I then decide on the focus of the painting (color, harmony, contrast). But when the work is finished, there is always something that I did not fully envision — maybe more color, more texture, or different brush work than I planned on. “Spirit” takes over when I paint, and I create from within, letting it guide me. Even I am often pleasantly surprised when I finish. Each painting is a learning experience, a journey. Isn’t that what life itself is all about?
