At first glance, the images in my series 'Seeing Beyond' seem to depict an ‘strange reality’. The circular patterns resemble wheels, spirals, eyes…. One wonders what they portray. Upon close inspection, though, one can see repeating features of nature such as a ridgeline or a tree. I create these images out of an intense curiosity to both explore the interplay of light, contrast, color and forms in nature and a desire to find out what is possible with the camera – what works and why.
