Katie McConnachie (U.S.A./Antigua) b. 1959 Los Angeles, California U.S.A. and now resides on the Island of Antigua, in the West Indies. She began her artistic career painting special effects for Hanna Barbera Productions before moving to the island. She left California in 1984 to 'go sailing' and settled in Antigua in 1985. She started Seahorse Studios, supplying graphic design facilities for the local business and yachting communities. Katie's delightful wildlife illustrations utilize ebony pencil, pen & ink, acrylic paintings, Prismacolor pencil and air brush techniques, won her Best in Show at the 1988 Antigua Artists Society Annual Exhibition. She entered the 1989 Island Arts Quest Competition, The largest competition of its kind held in the Caribbean for 35 years, and received International Awards for Best Other Media, Best Technique and was a runner up for the Supreme Award for Excellence.

Her resume includes: opening a number of Art Galleries with her originals and prints, Children's book Illustrator, Antiguan Postage Stamp creator and commercial and residential Muralist with works all over the world. Katie's favorite medium is Prismacolor pencils, which afford her drawings an incredible amount of detail work. She also works a great deal in acrylic paints. Her subject matter spans from her pet portraits of birds, cats, dogs, etc. to Native Island and Underwater Wildlife.

She was lead artist on the Wyland Marine Mural on the island of Grenada. The project was funded by the WSPA (World Society for the Protection of Animals) under the auspices of ABITPC (Antigua Barbuda Independent Tourism Promotion Corporation) headed by Martha Watkins Gilkes, in conjunction with two Grenadian organizations. The Grenada Fund for Conservation Inc. (GFC) and YWF-Kido Foundation Inc., which have a long history of working to raise public awareness and promote conservation of both local and Trans-boundary natural resources. And funded by World society for protection of animals (WSPA) .
In 2013 she was inducted into the “Ocean Artist’s Society” founded by Guy Harvey, Wyland and BobTalbot.
