Raised in New York City, Laura was taught to appreciate splendor in all forms and also to express this beauty through art. Laura’s first artistic talents afforded her a living as a designer of folk art animal furniture, At Laura D’s Folk Art Furniture specially made for FAO Schwarz, Neiman Marcus as well as galleries and museums around the world. “Playfulness and creativity join with superior craftsmanship in the world of Laura Davis.” Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Laura Davis, a.k.a. “Laura D” goes for more pizzazz.” Maggie Malone, Newsweek
Laura created 'Blue Dog Studio's' when her Yorkshire Terrier: Cooper was hit by a car and needed several thousands of dollars worth of care. Happy to say Cooper survived with many portraits done in his honor and many hugs from Laura. Laura searched for the special people that feel that pets are their children, who give unconditional love and deserve to be honored and commemorated as any human. This is a bond only an animal lover understands. Laura brings humor and an unmistakable presence to the world of portraits. Her portrayal of cows and cats, rabbits and bull terriers as well as bowlegged roosters and more was inaugurated when Cooper was blue from a car accident. Cooper’s many fans have encouraged Laura’s talent. They have been so supportive that from then on Laura has been commissioned to paint portraits.
*Laura has also gone on to gain her master’s in social work and is a licensed practitioner at a mental health facility and starts an expressive art program for mature adults.
