Ineffable Name Of G-d By Judaic Artist Marlene Burns

Tucson, AZ - June 10th, 2020

Judaic artist, Marlene Burns, is pleased to present her latest painting that examines the unspoken Name of G-d. Ineffable. Too great or extreme to be expressed or explained with words. Beyond description. Not to be uttered. The tetragrammaton ‘Yud, Hay, Vav, Hay’ is the ineffable Hebrew Name of G-d. According to Jewish Mysticism, Adonai went through 4 stages of creation from His spark of inspiration to the development of the concept. From emotional involvement and concrete planning, to action, while traveling through the worlds of Atzilut, Beriah, Yetzirah, and Asiyah. Asiyah is the physical and lowest world in which we live: In this world, Adonai commanded us to build a sanctuary for Him so that he could dwell among us. (Exodus 25:8) A spiral is the eternal sign of the creative and organizing principle of the universe. It is the intuitive symbol of spiritual development. W...

In Time For Sukkot New Judaic Painting By Marlene Burns

Tucson, AZ - September 21st, 2019

Judaic artist, Marlene Burns, is pleased to reveal her latest contemporary painting in her Judaic series, "Sacred Intention." "Spread over us the shelter of Your peace," is a powerful verse of the Hashkivenu prayer in the evening service. It provides a stunning visual of G-d's ability to protect us throughout the night. This shelter also references the Pilgrimage festival of Sukkot. Following Yom Kippur, we are commanded to immediately begin building a sukkah. It is traditional to perform a special ceremony with the four species ( willow, palm, myrtle and etrog) during the 8 days of Sukkot. In this visual expression, a rich, deep blue of the night sky is separated by a cradling curve that represents the shelter. A strong, black line, representing the casting, swipes through a brilliantly blue, green and purple color field of water. The word tashlich is hidden in partially formed circles at the top, while one perfect and complete circle at the bottom, represents the state of our souls when our process has completed. There are also illusions to tzitzit, that are used to show the casting off and fish. This custom is aligned to the story of the Akedah where Abraham journeys to Mount Moriah to sacrif...

As we ponder the miracles of God’s powers and the unwavering faith of our people, We are energized with renewed strength of spirit. The visual expression of Kol Dichfin, represents this journey. Working together Mordechai and his niece Esther were able to save the Jews and rightly punish Haman instead. Kaddish Yatom By Marlene Burns Graces The Cover Of Poetica Magazine Summer Issue

TUCSON, AZ - March 19th, 2011

Marlene Burns, fine artist, is pleased to announce that one of her Hebrew Prayers paintings has been chosen by Poetica print magazine for its summer edition cover. The chosen image is Kaddish Yatom, a painting that expresses the mourner's prayer. Both G-d's name and the word for life are embodied in this painting, to help us concentrate on sanctifying G-d's name and affirming life when we are faced with the death of a loved one. According to Kabbalistic meditation, when this prayer is said, one should imagine a ladder with seven rungs...as each word beginning with the letter 'vav' is said, a step up the ladder is taken as the soul of the dearly departed is carried up to heaven. The entire series can be viewed at www.KavanahPress.com with complete images and teachings that accompany them. Fine art greeting cards and reproductions are available for purchase.
