I was raised in Michigan and grew up with a true love of the beautiful wild landscapes that surrounded me there .
I studied studio art at Marlboro college in Vermont and have held an eclectic mix of odd jobs since then :including working in a Crab Cannery in Alaska to Milking cows in Vermont.
I have always been an artist and find myself experimenting with various mediums ... Some how though Photography has been a slow and steady love affair for me that involves showing people the world through my eyes ... what a very personal way to create .
In October of 2012 my photograph THE TREASURE was chosen as a winning entry for the Ron Howard/Canon contest titled : 'Project Imagination'It was a film project that involved the use of photos to inspire the making of a film .
This award was truly an honor that culminated with my photograph being exhibited in the Lincoln Center in New York City and in a promotional shot in Wired Magazine. .
This was a defining moment for me, one that gave me the self esteem and motivation to continue with what ever visions that popped into my head and allowed me to take chances with my work .
THE TREASURE was taken at a time when I had become interested with light and shadows and how they create a mood for the viewer. I am a painter and was learning to use my camera in ways that were different than painting but I still wanted my photographs to be art and not just a record of the moment . I like to experiment with my camera and find ways to make my photographs unique .
sometimes this ends in disaster but often it is just what I envisioned and the process itself is in part why I love to create so much. It unravels your being and brings it to the surface .
I like that we all see different things when we look at art . It is exciting to know that when someone looks at one of my photos it may be stirring an emotion or a thought that may be different from my intent , I am ok with this and find it exciting ....
I hope that you will Have a look around and leave a few comments if you feel inclined. I have five children and Live on Lake Huron with my two smooshie basset hounds and my wonderful husband . I am very blessed .
Please return and share this journey with me.
