MIKE GINN is a watercolour artist, calligrapher and cartoonist. He is the illustrator of books and botanical articles and holder of a number of one-man art exhibitions. His paintings hang in collections in South Africa, the United Kingdom, the USA and Australia.
He offers you the opportunity of buying his paintings of your children, pets, horses, residence, farm or, indeed, any other subject you would like translated into a watercolour painting. He generally works from photographs, which he prefers to take himself, but can also use your older prints should you want an historical painting or portrait.
You can also commission calligraphic works to honour people in your working or social life, poems, prose or any other written work, which can be plain or rubricated (coloured in traditional red), engrossed (decorated with suitable art and design) and gilded (raised and coloured with 24 carat gold leaf). This work is carried out on hand-made vegetable parchment or acid free watercolour paper to archival standard and quality. Mr Nelson (Madiba) Mandela graciously accepted the Freedom of the City of Grahamstown and asked to meet the artist who had prepared the citation. I was thus privileged to meet Mr Mandela in oerson and be congratulated by him for my calligraphic work.
