Michael Richardson was brought up and educated in Ipswich where he attended the Ipswich School of Art, studying Sculpture and Fine art. He continued his studies painting in Paris but success in dinghy sailing and ocean racing led him into a career in the Marine Industry. During this time he continued to paint and had several solo shows in his home town of Ipswich. In 1995 he was elected to the Wapping Group of Artists and the Chelsea Art Society.
