'As to the inspiration for my painting, my love of the water has triggered an exploration of it as subject matter for much of my work. People want to be near water, both real and imagined, as it exudes a calm that seems magical. While working, Iíve discovered that sense of calm often transcends the painting process when water is incorporated into the composition. Through the years, I've also learned the value of painting what you know. To the realistic painter, a working knowledge of properties of light and atmosphere is extremely important. Because light itself is color and form, its significance cannot be overstated.'
