Nira Schwartz graduated the Haifa University, Israel, creative art. In 1976 moved with her family to Japan for four years. In Japan she met the famous artist Yoshitoshi Mori who kindly invited her to his studio and showed her his fascinating printing technique which he developed out of Katazome, one of the Kimono printing techniques. Looking for a place to study the traditional katazome technique she was accepted to a class sponsored by Mr. Keisuke Serizawa who carried the honorific title 'National Treasure of Japan.'
