Nkese Miller-Riley was born in 1970 and has been in love with art since she was a child. She has been painting from as long as she can remember, and to this day continues to be in love with it. .Nkese specializes in acrylics and watercolours and has dabbled in the other mediums. Her love however has continued to be fabric Designing and continues to practice in this particular field

Although originally from Tobago, she resides in Trinidad and runs Movement of Young Artists,MYA, a small art gallery in Belmont where she showcases her works as well as the works of young and upcoming artists. Her overarching mission: to introduce art to a society that, for the most parts ,fails to appreciate it in all its forms. She obtained her BA in Visual and Fine Arts and Textile Designing from the University of the West Indies and PRATT.

Her philosophy centres around the principle of 'Anyone could paint.'She wishes to stir a desire for art in Trinidad and Tobago. She hopes to entice others to get involved in art and cites local artists like Ken Crichlow,Carlyle Harris,Leroy Clarke and Ainsworth Ovid as her inspiration. In effect, she hopes to cultivate an appreciation for local art in others in the same way that Crichlow and Ovid helped to cultivate that love in her - to see art not just in a practical sense, but in a theoretical one as well.

Nkese is a woman who sees art as a way of life, a way to understand life, and to capture it.
