As a native Montanan, living in the high plains of Montana, she sees first hand the challenges of creating humane environments for animals.'
Sandra has been full-time professional artist for 10 years with paintings in private collections across the United States, Europe, Japan and Brazil. She paints in several different mediums: watercolor, pen and ink, acrylic and oil. But her favorite processes is to load a palette knife with thick (impasto) paint and then suddenly there are animals in motion. Horses race across the prairie, wolves leap from the canvas, and birds take wing.
The animals in my paintings are about art, motion, and emotion. When I finish I want to step back and say YES, thats the spirit and motion of this unique critter. Every animal is different. Eyes, head shapes, fur patterns, musculature, and body carriage are unique to the individual animal. In addition to all of this, I want to create a composite of the animal's movement, and turn all this into art.
