I was born in Lafayette Louisiana and moved around the United States frequently as the child of a Navy Submariner. Much of my early life, was spent in San Diego and I suspect was instrumental in the development of my passion for Art and Science. When asked as a child what I was going to be when I grew up, my answer was always ' I'm gonna be either an Artist or a Scientist'. Later in life, I discovered the work of Leonardo da Vinci, one of the greatest painters and thinkers of all time, and more importantly, inspiration that my two greatest interests (Art and Science) need not be mutually exclusive.
I am a staff writer for 'In The Field Magazine', an Agriculture magazine serving the central Florida region. I author an ongoing entomology series entitled 'A Closer Look' as well as an activity section 'Naturally Amazing Activities' that celebrates nature based crafts and activities. Much of the macro photography published with the articles are a direct product of the frequent hiking trips my wife and I take together. In addition to Photography, I enjoy video production, most of which is natural history, but I have produced a few music videos as well and would like to one day produce a documentary or a fun comedy. 3D Modeling is the newest addition to my palette, most of what I have done so far has been published for scientific illustration and education but I enjoy creating digital landscapes and recreating ancient objects such as armor and weapons (always good for gaming too).
My roots in Fine Art and Traditional Photography (film and darkrooms) were only a beginning in a lifelong endeavor to study, understand, and express the beauty and wonder of the world around us. I find tremendous satisfaction in sharing my adventures, discoveries and imagination with others and hope you will enjoy the Photography and Illustration I have shared here.
