I came to Alaska for a week long vacation back in 1986.   Because I enjoyed the natural beauty and the strong sense of community I found here, I extended my vacation that year for three additional months, until I finally had to return to my then financial home and pay for the trip.   However, I was hooked.   Then in 1990 when I got the chance to move up here, I jumped at it.   I settled in here nicely, am now married and together we raise our two boys.   I have been involved in art with all my life, enjoying early lessons through both school and private sources...more

Standing on the melting snow berm to order Ice Cream- I love this town. This weekend we had 'cleanup day' on Saturday... well, clean up day is still the title, but it usually lasts for about a week. Over winter, blowing trash gets caught in snow ...

A rant on changes...

I'm frustrated with a change in my neighborhood. I'm not talking about the wooded lot that has sold and a new house being built, nor am I referring to new neighbors that move in and out seasonally to the rental house or the apartments within a co... 

Okay well, last summer's experiment went well, kind-of. I did get massively recharged, and inspired, but had little time to use those ideas (at least little studio time.) I did get to play more with wire, building jewelery out of decorative chain pat...
