My love for photography began in high school, where I spent two years studying with Mr.Yamaki. He was a great photography teacher, but very strict. He wanted his students to learn and to become good photographers.
My Father also inspired me. He was a mighty fine printer and he had a printing business, which he operated from home. I learned a lot about art by watching him. He would also let me develop some of my classroom work in his darkroom. I was the only one in my photography classes that had a darkroom at home. That came in really handy (and my teacher liked it too), as our classes were too big, for the amount of equipment we had to work with.
A few years later, I studied with the New York Institute of Photography. After receiving my Certificate of Graduation, I started my own business, Sherri Meyer Photography. I specialize in Nature, Travel, Adventure and Outdoor Lifestyles Imagery.
