Everyday behind the camera is an adventure.   Occasional trips out of the country or state where I live are easy departures from the normal day-to-day routine but I also see beauty in the details of my own neighborhood.   Many times I’ve stop to take a photograph of something of brilliant natural beauty and find something equally as interesting but perhaps not as shiny in the opposite direction.   That’s why I always take a 360-degree approach to a location.   I’ll just take a moment to turn all the way around, which probably looks a bit funny to a...more

Play With Fire

I have always been one to stare into flames. Whether it’s being the last one up at the camp fire or being the person who turns the log in the fireplace, taking care of the fire, in a reciprocal way, takes care of me too. Fire comforts me on the inside and out. I don’t get a thrill out of burning things but the flames, alive with image and emotion, help bring me clarity of thought, peace of mind, and inspiration for upcoming challenges. Look at each image carefully and perhaps you may see something in the flames. To me some images so obviously look like something, I can’t believe that everyone doesn’t see things as I do. But what I’ve learned with this project is that people can look at the same images and see something completely different. After trading descriptions and pointing out details in the shapes with others, I’ve been able to better understand their point of view. Before posting these images on FAA, they only had numbers as to not express what I see to others. So disregard what I call them and tell me what you see. This is my first collection of still images examining fire. All of the images in this gallery are part of the e-book I wrote in 2008 called ”Play With Fire”. This publication can still be found in the Amazon.com kindle bookstore. The only enhancement made to all but one of these images is blacking some areas. “Bouquet of Fire” is an arrangement of smaller images. Okay, This isn’t exactly the Rorschach inkblot test able to evaluate personality traits or measure emotional balance and I’m not a psychiatrist. I’m a photo-artist and I’ve put together some very cool (hot) images of fire. This is not a test. Enjoy!
