Happy Nutella Day!

https://roodepoortrecord.co.za/2018/02/05/world-nutella-day-3/
Nutella is a gooey chocolate like substance that is based off the hazelnut. its used on toast and the company tries to convince you its healthy, but in reality its frosting. its also the filling in the Roche candies. its a fun treat and a great way to totally increase your blood sugar.

the other day in france people went nuts over it when it was on sale.

you would think there was a wonka ticket in one of the jars by the look of this.

how do you celebrate? i would assume you eat the stuff.

The first time I tried the stuff I thought it was great and almost ate the entire jar so took it off the list of "food" to eat.

i find it has a bit of a metallic taste to it. but i can polish a jar off easily, even limiting myself to a spoonful a day or so, but stopped because that's not good. its also expensive. till i learned you can get it by the tub at walmart. at that point its more of a body lotion.

The French aren't fat: they openly laugh at you in the street, not caring how much humiliation their derision will cause you - is why no French person dare be fat!
I suspect their Nutella cravings will bump them up against that "derision threshold!" But they'll conquer it...

...pass the similar-to-Nutella-branded-jar-which-is-just-as-tasty-as-Nutella-but is not-Nutella!!! :)

but in reality its frosting

That's a good description. An incredible amount of sugar in that stuff. Someone nailed them in their US ads for saying it was a "healthy" breakfast item for kids. But yeah, the stuff tastes great. We can't/don't keep any in our house.

One of my cousins is making a home made liquor from it. I'm allergic to nuts and have been since the age of 5.

Superb on crepes and pancakes, especially with sliced banana and/or strawberries...

Yuck, I find it completely NASTY, but then I have blood sugar issues and I don't eat a lot of sweet stuff anyway. It's disgusting, and those commercials where the mother is putting it on the kid's toast in the morning to get them to eat is criminal in my estimation. Let's feed our kids crap and watch them bouce off the wall from a sugar rush, crash in the afternoon and have cavities in all their teeth.

Yeah, that's how I REALLY feel LOL.

Can't celebrate it - I prefer Orangutans not be hurt.

Janine, if you want to boycott palm oil you're going to have to give up a lot more than Nuttella (hint, vegetable often contains palm oil).

Ah, the old myth of the "sugar rush" that just won't go away... https://www.webmd.com/parenting/features/busting-sugar-hyperactivity-myth#1 much like the old "8 cups of water a day" myth... https://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/8glasses.asp

I don't mind David, it's a good start.

I'm not boycotting anything, just can't seem to smile while ingesting something that has been known to cause injury to another.

Yeah, nutella is the largest single use of palm oil on the planet... er, not (http://greenpalm.org/about-palm-oil/what-is-palm-oil/what-is-palm-oil-used-for)

Nutella reminds me way too much of a substance I swabbed off baby butts a while back. The thought of eating that stuff is enough to quell my hunger.

Mike Savad

but if poop did taste like nutella, people wouldn't complain so much about changing the baby. and, you would have a side business of putting it back into the jar.

Doesn't work for me. I've never liked the flavor of hazelnuts anyway (first time I had one I thought they were spoiled) and the idea of something that not only tastes like hazel nut but looks like baby poop is enough to make me move on to other foods in the proverbial blink of an eye.

It's ironic that nutella was created by Pietro Ferrero just after WWII because of the shortage of cocoa, so he substituted cheaper, and more available, hazlenuts. Ferrero is now the 3rd largest chocolate and confectionery manufacturer in the world.

Randy Pollard

Doesn't work for me either. Just a stupid craze of "Nutella", it has no flavor.
