Keywords

I just went to one of my photographs to change the keywords. I typed in sixteen keywords putting the most important ones first. I am not pleased that after submitting the changes that there are only five of those keywords showing with the image. Even when going to a print as if I were purchasing it, I saw only seven keywords listed and they were not the most useful of keywords. Why are not all of the keywords showing with the image ? What is the use of putting in keywords if Fine Art America is not going to attach those keywords to my artwork?

The keywords are there, you just can't see them. What's important is that the system sees them for indexing and the search function.

Yes, as Chuck mentions, the keywords are there. Go back to "edit" and you'll see them then,

Your Flying Car piece has the following tags --

conceptual greeting cards creative edit wall decor throw pillow shower curtain art print canvas prints tote bags acrylic prints for sale fantasy dreams bubble water mug

You don't need to put the medium in tags; FAA already does that. Use keywords that describe the image we are seeing. For example, you don't have the type or maker of the car. It' a PT Cruiser which at one time was a pretty popular car for a few years.

they are hidden, but lately sean hides anything that is spelled wrong. and i'm guessing he's only showing words that have a lot of results?

many words like decor, pillow, shower curtain etc are just filters, they won't help anyone find your images.

As I've mentioned before, those tags accompanying your images are no help to you.

If a viewer interested in your art happens to click on to a tag, they are sent far,far away from your Art.

you have to tell people you exist. you can't rely on those words. and more so they are all clickable anyway, you want to send them to your artist website. you need more and better keywords, don't waste space saying mugs etc because they aren't on all the sites anyway. and if someone was looking for a mug of beer image, yours might come across as spam.

you need well more than 18 works. try 200 or more. put everything in collections.

We all need tags

And throughout all my years of doing face to face shows it would be inconceivable for the promoter to enter one's booth and grab interested viewers, and take them away to show them what the promoter want them to see.

Maybe someday FAA will realize that that should not be the case here

Hello

Uploading images on Fine Art America is half of the work. The other half is marketing. Fine Art America is a platform for artists and photographers to run their own businesses. The artists that are successful on FAA do outside marketing to promote their work and we offer a handful of different marketing tools to help you e.g. Shopping Cart Widget, Email Campaign, etc. So I would definitely take a look at these features (found 'Behind the Scenes') to help get some sort of marketing plan in action.

Being an active member on Fine Art America is also a plus - we have a very large community of artists and photographers. 'Favouriting' images, leaving comments, participating in discussion forums, etc., are big ways to get your work noticed! I would also look into uploading more images.

We have over 7 million images listed on Fine Art America, so if there is no marketing and promotion done on your end, your images will get lost in the mix. If you follow all of these suggestions you will appear higher and more often in the search engine.

We cannot tell why some sell and why some do not so we cannot give that kind of advice. However, here are some great posts on the forum and elsewhere about marketing your work. Please log in to view some of them
