:-) I loved winning the original. All the way to UK it flew!! Awesome

I used the fact I won it on a site the other day when they asked about awards won!

Thanks :)

The awesome honor of becoming a recipient of the Tony Award, came at a very low time in my life, losing my house (Super Storm Sandy) and dealing with the initial hole in my head.

Art Prints

By the way, did I miss something?....Doesn't the current recipient still choose the next award winner?

It's slightly changed now, Roger, due to some things behind the scenes.

This way we get to keep an eye on it and where it's going

I'll do that shortly Carmen

Yes Roger in a way they do. They can nominate and choose that person once they are "in the system"

I noticed you have to have their e-mail and I don't.

My pick is Victor Molev: https://fineartamerica.com/profiles/victor-molev.html?tab=artworkgalleries

One of his pieces:

Please use the website Tony linked to. :-)

I do not understand this... " noticed you have to have their e-mail and I don't. "

Abbie, on the Nomination page at the link to nominate form, it asks the nominator for the email of their chosen nominee.....and we
usually don't have people's emails, just the Contact on their profile page, not their personal email.

Thanks all involved. This is a beautiful award and so far, all recipients are so deserving of their Wins.
I'm going to think long about if/who I might nominate.

It should say, if you have it

It says

Do you have their email? Please place here if yes.

And you don't have to fill that part out........

Great seeing everyone, Tony, Carmen, Roger so glad of your recovery and you are doing ok, hello Abbie, Lise, VIVA, I am sorry to hear Susan is not feeling well. I for one was floored when nominated and received the award. I pretty much shared it with the entire City of New Orleans then sent it to Susan who also was in shock. I was so humbled and an honor to be part of a great tradition here at Fine Art America. Thanks Tony for re-posting I had wondered what became of the award since Susan had received the award last. I had been so busy with client projects had not been in the limelight of things here in the discussions......I hope Susan is doing better, I miss seeing her around....

The link Tony provided above I visited that site about two weeks ago or so, I followed a link from Kathy McCullen a link about writing, I just glanced and left, is this site the site Abbie designed its beautiful!!! Can any Fine Art America member join that site? Is there a fee associated? I did find the revision pages 1,2,3 and 4 all about The Tony Award II. Thank you for sharing and including the images I took of The Tony Award II while it was visiting New Orleans, LA I still get inquiries sentiments pertaining to the beautiful design of the award Tony Created and introduced.

Yes, anyone may join

Just looking back on the list of previous winners, makes me feel nostalgic. Some are still here, some come in and out but aren't around as much, and some are sadly no longer with us. Seeing Hal on there was sort of surreal. It's a unique kind of community here at FAA, and it's great to be a part of.

Also, I agree with Michael, your site is looking great Abbie!

Abbie the magazine looks awesome. I was about to hop in and comment around but I'm on the wrong computer and out of town, so nowhere near my spiral notebook with the passwords. If anything happens to that notebook, I'm toast. Agree with Shana about looking over the names ... the creme de al creme for sure.

Thank you :-)

I was going to check out the magazine but it's blocked by the work network

I wonder why :(

BLOCKED??? There is no nudity :-O

Chance Kafka

I don't know! I can get onto things like YouTube and even Facebook. They do block nudity, games, or sites without the right SSL certificates. Not sure what else. thought you might like to be aware though!

Yes, thank you. It may be the SSL although it's secure

Just received a great nomination :-)

Abbie.

Confused by this statement;
Nominee - Who is it you think should receive the Tony Award? Please note they must be aware you are nominating them. *

No problem letting it go for vetting by whoever decides, but we have to tell the INDIVIDUAL we are nominating them??
Why do we need to let them know we are nominating them.
I feel several are deserving, yet one particularly stands predominant in my mind.
Do I have to contact that person to let him or her know. If so, why?

Whenever I was nominated for special group features, I was informed by the group administrator.
It was always an honor and a surprise, and I wholeheartedly appreciated the person nominating me;however,
I would have felt awkward if someone had emailed telling me they were going to do so, like they needed my permission...

Am I missing something here?

Tony Murray

Mike, The reason this is being done is so that the "Potential" recipient is on board with passing it along. For example you might nominate a person who may not necessarily be OK with receiving it or be able to ship the award to the next recipient. In that case you would nominate someone else. The current holder (to be announced in a few weeks) will be able to look at the potential list of nominees and be assured the award will be appreciated as well as moved along to the next person. It's slightly more complex than in the past but this is the result of unforeseen issues and loss of the first award. If you are feeling especially humble, you can also nominate yourself.

Thank you Tony and Abbie!

So So Happy for those so honored but respectfully don't feel I would hardly come close to those that I feel are most deserving.
I informed my nominee and await a reply.

Hopefully it will be accepted so I can start filling out the form properly!

Mona, thank you for the very kind words and sharing works you like of mine. I am glad you like my art and photographs!

Kathy, thank you so much for the very kind words as well. I always do what I can to spread kindness where I can, I know the world needs more of it.

Val, to hear I am an inspiration means a lot. The painting you selected proudly hangs on my wall.

If any of you couldn't tell, I love night scenes. Stars, moonlight, and sunsets too. When the sun goes down is when the magic stars, and I try to show that in my photos and art.

I have taken the first photo of the Tony Award, which I received last night. Here, I am in front of my "Wyoming Wall" - a collection of paintings I've done of Wyoming, where I am originally from. And yes, I signed the scroll in the bottom!

More photos of the award will follow as the months progresses. I have a couple of creative ideas for photographing it.

Laurel, your words are always so kind, and the comments you leave are simply fantastic. I can't thank you enough for being such a positive encourager of my art and likewise need to pay a long revisit to your gallery as well as many fantastic artists here. Funny you should mention that my night scenes stand out to you - I have noticed many of my night scenes are so popular among my followers.

So, for my "official portrait" of the Tony, I decided to take it way out in the desert, away from Tucson's light pollution, and capture it (on top of my car) with the bright moon directly behind it.

Here is the result:

I thought it was only fitting, as night scenes in both photography have always been so special to me.

Lori, I still remember the wonderful comment you left on that painting. Thanks again for your continuing support and kindness regarding my work. It is indeed a fantastic sculpture by Tony and holding it is really a feeling of accomplishment.

Roger - I have quite a goofy smile but I do smile more than my very serious avatar might lead one to think. Thank you!!

It is especially rewarding to see so many past winners offering their congrats.

That is such a cool image of the Tony award, Chance...you made it look like a super hero! Just fantastic.

Although I see a slight (bemused?) smile in your avatar, you look super happy in the photograph you shared with us here against a backdrop of your Wyoming paintings. Good to see the "current" you with your big smile!

Connie, thank you so much. I too like the luminous effect the moon provided. And thanks for your thoughts on Picacho Peak Sunset.

Mo, I take that as a high compliment that your work wants you to travel to the locations I depict. Many thanks!

Roger, I've loved night skies for as long as I can remember. You can always flip through my gallery if you need a break from the brightness of the city.

Peggy, I'd been thinking of something "different" to do with the award. I was actually going to have it in some prickly pear cactus but could not get the camera low enough to capture the moonlight coming through it. So thank you for sharing your thoughts. I was really pleased with how it turned out. And I guess I do have a bit of a smirk in my avatar. I think I always kind of have one. The real smile is more rare but not that rare! Haha.

Thank you very kindly Lisa. It's always extra incentive to know others artists love the work I do.

Natalie, thank you very much! I'm glad you like that Saguaro sunset painting!

A HUGe Congratulations, Chance, for being the next recipient of the August 2020 "Artistic Merit Award" aka Tony Award! Your photography and paintings truly show that they are from your heART and are emotionally connected! So much MARVEL~o~US artwork, it is difficult to show all my favorites here. The image of you with the Tony Award, really shows your beautifully true self, warm, caring and kind, not to mention talented! I bet you people don't know this about you, that you compose original music too. Film score type quality. I know personally having experiencing this unsung talent of yours.

I am sure Tony Murray, would be most pleased at how you have captured the award in this very wonderfully, creative way, in the moonlight. A first! I love the purplelicious sky. So glad it gets to stay in Arizona's Sonoran Desert for the month of August. Bravo!

You certainly portray its meaning of being recognized for your wonderful artwork and contributions to the Fine Art America community!

Jerry Bokowski most certainly made a Fab~U~lo~Us choice indeed!

Janet,

Wow, THANK YOU for the exceptionally kind words expressed about myself and my work. You are such a kind and considerate person and put others before yourself time and time again and it shows in your own efforts as a Beauty of Arizona group admin and your work. The recognition of my talent is so deeply appreciated so again, I offer my humble thanks.

Thank you also for sharing your favorites of my photography and art. I love both mediums very much and wondered when I first joined whether it would be futile to give a crack at both. I have found they really go hand in hand and allow to show the beauty of landscapes I love in different yet harmonious ways. The camera allows me to show what's really there and I work hard to show it under the most extraordinary circumstances, and the paint brush allows me to put my own spin on things and show landscapes through my own vision. So I appreciate your recognition of both! I am looking forward to a long life of creativity and words as kind and genuine as yours are sure a motivator to "keep going."
