Hello Everybody, just wanted to share with you my happiness :)
All of the free canvasses which I won on the Fine Art America Billboard Contest arrived to Portugal, and they are finally on their final place, and I am thrilled because I think they look awesome!
This is the corner of the agency of my husband, exactly next to the meeting table, where they sign the contracts for buying properties.
I selected 3 of my Portugal themed watercolors for the prints, because my idea was, that they will be good not only to decorate the office of my hubby but also for local advertisement. When they reserve a house or apartment to buy, is the best time to start to thinking about decorating right? :D So they can leave straight with my business card :) I am yet to place a glass shelf under the vertical print with my business cards, and some framed Greeting Cards from my collections.
This is at least the theory, because in Portugal there is not a big habit of buying prints in my experience, I have more luck so far with my original Portuguese themed watercolors. But anyhow, is always good to try, because who knows what will bring.
I didn't chose the biggest sizes, because would be too huge for that wall. The seascape on the left is a watercolour painting about a local beach called Praia Mexilhoeira, and one of his client already remarked it that is beautiful and he love to surf on that particular beach :) Right to it a painting about a very popular, charming touristic village nearby us called Obidos, and next to me the painting titled Porto Rabelo Boats, which is also my best selling Portugal themed print on Fine Art America. I wanted that they fit together, and look good on the red wall, also a bit of everything from Portugal : Atlantic Ocean, waves, Douro River, charming village, cobblestones, historical boats delivering Porto wine, nature, sunshine :)
I was very excited about this contest, because I wanted so much these prints, I imagined them would look great, and now they are here, and I am over the moon!
So just wanted to say thank you Sean for this amazing contest, thank you Abbie for your incredible support, also for Judy and Jovie who helped to solve the issue with my orders, and for the whole team behind!
The canvases look fantastic, Dora! I think your idea is a really good one. I'll bet that lots of good things come from this.
I was thrilled with the quality of the canvases I won. I gave one away (of the cat artwork of her choice) to a Facebook fan who had entered my contest...she was a longtime very supportive fan and she was thrilled to win. It was particularly nice that she won because she'd been going through a rough time lately.
I donated the second canvas (also a cat) to the local SPCA...they are having what they call a Catsino Night later this month and will be putting it into a silent auction. It's huge! At 36" x 36" it's very impressive. They have given me two tickets to the event and at $80 a pop, I was very happy to get them.
I've kept the last canvas I won for myself...it is a 24x36 canvas of a chickadee that reminds me of the lovely little birds that were always happily following me around at my old place, hoping for peanuts or sunflower seeds. They cheered me up many times so the memory of them lives on in the photograph.
I didn't realize until I saw a couple of the canvases how amazing it was to win them. Once you see them it's like...wow! I want to say thank you as well to Sean for holding the contest and to Abbie for helping me out when there were a couple of glitches along the way.
Anyway, congratulations to you, Dora! I enjoyed communicating with your during the contest too. Your win is well deserved.
And also thank you Peggy! I was very nice from you to give away the canvas for your fan, and also for donation, that event will be fantastic for sure!
I liked to share with you also during the contest the hiccups lol, it was easier to digest the issues and arrive to the final to support each other :D But it all worth it, now I look at the wall and just smiling, they are so great! And it was a very generous prize to receive 3 canvasses absolutely free!
I like the hoodies too, only the sizes are not very fitting, but I will be able to use it during winter to dress under something :)
I love them against that red background. They are beautiful Dora! I've always wanted to go to Portugal. I was in the airport once but that's as far as I made it. If I ever get back there I'm going to knock on your door! Congrats. :)
They look amazing - I am not at all surprised, Dora. You worked hard to earn them (I won't say "win" because it was all about the work, wasn't it? I "earned" two, myself LOL) and you deserve to be as excited as you are. Thanks so much for sharing them in their new home. And continued good fortune to both you and your husband.
Gorgeous paintings and a wonderful presentation. I hope your husband’s clients will buy some of your lovely work.
They also bring back such happy memories of our trip to Portugal. We walked down the streets of Obidos and enjoyed a visit to a winery, looking out over the river and the wine boats, as well as a cruise on the river, seeing the gorgeous views.
Elias thank you very much! I am very happy with the quality, the colors are beautiful! I am very grateful for this contest, because I could never buy myself such big canvas prints from my own shop, and this way I could experience what I am selling :)
Nicolyn, thank you here too , and also for leaving on a comment on my Facebook post! During the whole contest these prints motivated me a lot, because I wanted to get them so much. During the contest difficulties some members asked if it really worth to stress out so much about them and for this contest, and now seeing them on the wall of the office I can say yes, definitely, because they look awesome. So far I didnt want to showcase originals there, firstly because I want to protect them for selling, and also I dont paint in so big. So they are just perfect, and my dream come true with a work what in fact brought me also some sales, and new commissions, and a collaboration with a cat related business. So I feel I won or earned a lot with it :)
Kirsten, thank you very much, I am happy that my paintings brought back happy memories about your visit in Portugal!
