Jeff Folger $ 3.00 an image, for unlimited rights. too much money for you?
AM FineArtPrints Alamy sells some of my rights managed for $4.00. Sometimes when they sell a rights managed (so called) it's unlimited editorial for 10 years for $35.00. Did you know Alamy is a religious organization? I got a $600 rights managed form Stock Connection and almost had a heart attack.
When this royalty free first started I made a big fuss about it and it will ruin stock photography. They even wrote about my in Photo District News. Other photographers thought I was crazy. Look at stock photography now
People need to just say no and pull their images from these stock agencies. FAA might not track or enforce usage rights but at least you can set your own price. What good is any enforcement if the licences are RF and can be as low as $3.00?
I haven't contributed new images to Getty in years, but I still have some old images there. I will be moving some of those RM images to a more favorable location once they are pulled from the Getty site. I won't be resubmitting them to Getty as RF so I can earn my 10 cents or much less per license.
For at least the past year or two Getty hasn't even been showing buyers RM images unless they click some additional options, no wonder they say RM sales are in the toilet.
George - enforcement is very difficult with such low prices. Few law firms will want to touch your case if you have public pricing that low, regardless of what tracking may or may not be available. Some courts have ruled that statutory damages should be 3x the actual license fee lost. For such a small license fee that means you get only the minimum damages of $750. That's hardly worth the thousands in legal costs it will take to (maybe) collect that amount.
