I am using Favourites on my AW to generate links to specifically sized prints, but how do you get to Favourites on the AW? A link appears when you add a Favourite, but is adding another Favourite the only way to see the existing ones (short of typing URLs).
I realise that there is a link on one’s Profile page (and in the Defaults we can set which tab is the default on the Profile page), but how does anyone, such as a customer, get to the Profile page? I can’t find a link through the site navigation and menus.
Well, in the past, I have had a customer or two who couldn't figure out how to configure what they wanted to purchase. Or for instance I had one guy who wanted several canvas prints with all the same options. And he seemed to find it very tedious to pick out the size, wrap style, etc. over and over. In these cases, I saved the configuration they were looking for and sent it to them using my favorites.
There's no way I'm aware of to link to your favorites as a set, but you can link to them individually if this is why you need them.
For instance, this is one of James favorites of one of his prints framed..
When I click on that favorite - I'm sent to this link - which shows it as a framed print with the size, mats, etc. all preconfigured.
All I had to do was change the fineartamerica in the URL to match James' url for his Pixels store. I don't know if he has a custom URL but it would work the same way if he does, nothing else about the URL changes, just the domain part of the URL.
Short of using your blog to create a sort of pseudo catalog, I don't know a way to show that collection of your favorites that would link to the configuration you've chosen, but FYI if a customer logs in to your site using a buyer's account, they are shown a link to their favorites. It would be awesome if it was easier to share a specific configuration of a product not just for the artist but for a customer who wanted to share what they wanted with someone who is buying it for them as a gift or what not.
On the Artist Website, if I go to an image, in the top right hand corner there are three symbols, the rightmost being a heart. If you click that, it adds it to your favourites and shows you a link “view my favourites”.
Importantly, if I go to an image and choose a particular size, say Wall Art, Prints, 24”x16”, and then, under the Add To Cart button there is an Add To Favourites link. Pressing that adds it to Favourites.
If I then go to Favourites and click on the link for that page, it takes me back to it, and the URL of that page is a URL which can be shared on Twitter, etc., which leads directly to a 24”x16” Print on my Artist Website, rather than the default 8x5”. So you can use that for particular framing, mattings, etc.
Just that there seems no direct way into Favourites, except from the Profile, and no way into The Profile either.
Well, Jessica, we do have Favourites on the AW, in several places, including when signed out. We just don’t have a tab to get to them, and they deliver functionality which we cannot do otherwise (namely lower-level URLs).
That solution adds its own problems. Click on the following tab which is now visible and see other artists. Click on one of them and get booted off his site to FAA. Favorites just isn’t one of those elements meant to reside on the artist website.
PS - also his favorites of other artists send a customer offsite. Favorites are nice for sharing specific product configurations but they weren’t set up to be on the AW...
Well aware of the footer link. One of many reasons I’m pivoting to a Shopify store. But for the price of the AW a footer link out isn’t a big deal. It at least opens in a new window. The other as a customer just looks like a broken site. I click on an artist and am sent to a search on a different site.
