Hi everyone, I'm very new to this website and I've been having trouble getting information. I don't see any help menu or any tutorials online.
If there is someone who knows of any place I can get more detailed information I would be extremely grateful.
I have opened up a premium account, and I can't find a way to add my bio. Can someone please let me know how I can do that.
Also do the folks at Fine Art America answer artist emails ? I was told by other artists that they hadn't gotten their emails responded to. I tried to use the phone number and call up the company and they said they only help people who are buying something. Are artist supported here on the website? I realize a lot of hours have been here for a long time so I really appreciate anyone who can shed some light.
It's a lovely website . However I think it's really helpful to know how to navigate things. Somethings are intuitive but somethings are not.

Hello Sue,
On you premium site https://sue-zipkin.pixels.com/ here is how you add in your bio:
Go to Behind the Scenes
Then General
Then Website Appearance
In the left column choose Homepage
On the right choose About
Type in your bio under Section text
You can also change the Section title
Hit Apply Changes
Abbie Shores is the Forum Moderator and all around problem solver:)

Hi Sue. Welcome to FAA. There are many great people on this site who will reach out and help if you simply ask, as you just did. There is also a Moderator on this Discussion area named Abbie Shores. She is also very helpful and knowledgeable as well. She's part of FAA and I imagine she's also super busy with all her responsibilities. So with these kind of simpler questions, many of the members can show you the way.
To set up your Bio in the premium site you'd just have to log in first. Next to your name on the top right you'll see a little 'Edit' icon. When you click on that you'll get a box menu on the left. It starts with Instructions. Announcement Bar. etc. You should just read all of that and you'll understand how everything is arranged. But for the Bio you'll go to the 'Homepage' Tab found below that, Once you click on that tab you'll see a bunch of Folders. These are your website pages. You'll then go to the 'About' tab to edit your Bio.
If you've written a draft of it somewhere & you're trying to paste it in, note that some of the pasted grammar won't work. Like apostrophes. (') And you may have to manually correct them in the Bio by just typing them again. Just view your Bio once its done to check that it looks right.
Also note that the Bio there and the one on your FAA site won't sync. So you'd have to do them individually.
If I were you I'd just read what's on every folder. You'll understand how it all works if you do that.

email is tricky on the site, servers think the mail is spam and destroy it before you get to see it. only gmail seems to work.

Hi everyone. Thank you everyone for your response. Meanwhile, I couldn't figure out how to find this discussion. I had no idea that you kind folks responded to my questions! I check the boxes telling me that I would like to follow the discussion, and also that I would like an email to me. That didn't work out very well. Maybe there's a setting in my emails that isn't correct or something.

Yes it is. I answer emails in technical support, and so does Red, my assistant, but he doesn't work weekends and I'm always in here anyway apart from Mondays when David Dehner is minding the store.

Read the main Discussion Board; all the info you need is right here.
If you still have questions, ask them here on the main Discussion Board. Most of us know the answers.
Abbie is Technical Support for the artists. She runs the Discussion area and answers the technical emails that you send. She will most likely get back to you here on the main Discussion Board faster than by email. For the basic questions, most of us know the answers and are happy to help.
There isn't a team of web designers for the site. Sean, the owner of the site does all the programming himself.

Thanks Susan! I appreciate your knowledge. I guess it’s one of those things that you just have to keep studying to figure out how things work around here. Would you happen to know where the email references are? I am looking for notifications for the emails and I have clicked please notify me but I’m not getting anything. I’m sure the more I read I’ll find the answers ! Thanks.

When you sign in to your premium site sign is as ADMINISTRATOR
Then click on EDIT near the top right side under DISCOVER
Then on the far left side click on HOMEPAGE
Then click on the tab ABOUT and put in your BIO there!

Notifications for emails from message board posts?
They go to your personal email address, not the site email. Some people say they have problems getting emails unless they have a Gmail address.

Hi Susan, Thanks! Yes I'm not getting my emails notifications to my email off this website. I don't have a Gmail account.
Abbie... Might you be familiar with the situation? I am unable to get my notifications from your website via my email listed. Is the only way to get emails through Gmail?
I have everything turned on and I want to be notified. Do you have any other suggestions other than me having to set up a special email account to get my emails?
I also had emailed "contact us" below a few days ago and I was wondering why no one had responded to that.
I am also getting some mystery characters in my bio showing up for no reason. Is anyone familiar with these: â€

I posted a thank you to someone for putting me on a watchlist.
For some strange reason it posted to a bunch of other peoples messages. Is that a known glitch? This was under activity stream, I didn't have any special buttons clicked so I have no idea why that would happen. Thanks!

Sue, you have some weird characters in your bio. That's from copying and pasting. You should go back to your bio and type in the corrections.

This is strange. I thought I posted another reply before. Thank you Jessica that worked great!
EMAILS: I had checked my spam, I also checked on my server. No emails.
I had another type of email to try and I said that up. It wasn't Gmail.
I will click please notify me by email and see if I have any luck. Is it possible for Red to send me the message to the FAA emails. Let's just see if this new email works.
It's going to be the email we have as our username for the account and that is also the same email I have in the contact information? Thanks!

if you have comcast, they usually erase it. aol is a 50% shot if you get anything from anyone. usually server side spam filters just remove it without a trace.

Hi everyone.
Thank you for all of your help! I just posted a new discussion and I can't find where it went.
I keep getting lost around here.
The other day I clicked on something and I saw the discussions I started. For some reason maybe I accidentally unchecked "watched" or it unchecked itself. When I go to watch there's nothing there.
Maybe the one that I just posted today didn't show up?
How can I tell if it shown? I do not see it on recent activity. It's also confusing because I'm using two websites, what is my premium and what is the fine art America. It appears that I can only access the discussions via the main website at fine Art America. Is that correct?
