New Group

I am pleased to announce that my new group is attracting some interesting artists: https://fineartamerica.com/groups/traditional-art-only.html

Interesting idea; now it would be very useful to say what you mean by traditional. I would vote along the lines nothing created in a style which was developed after Albrecht Dürer. He actually is my favourite.

Wild: my opinion/interpretation of "traditional art" points to impressionism/realism and based on my father's work which I have been promoting since he left us. If you visit my group you'll see what I mean.

Then it should say that in the title. Because one person can have traditional art in 9 groups and all mean something different. Some think its just painting in general not a specific genre.

I consider it photography as well, or really anything art.

Enrique I guessed that. However as Mike says traditional means many things. It is your group so your choice. However; you really would not get in the traditional debate. I have been over the tens plus years I have run many groups a number of which were highly active; define what you mean be traditional very carefully or expect a lot of ear ache.
Run a group saying photos of horse and you will get picture of dogs, goats, tree ..... .
Reject them and most will not even notice; on the other hand some will be most offended. That might seem to be a bit extreme; however I run a contest once 'a world without electricity'. Images showing three pin plug and electricity pylons were submitted. Maybe I should have allowed them.

Mike and Wild. Thanks for your time. I have already described the group and what I'm after. I only accept artworks I like. So far so good.

This is rather simple, if you don't feel your work fits in Enrique's guidelines, don't submit. I read them and felt they were fairly direct and my work would not fit, so no issue.

You described it, but we only see the name when we submit the image. We don't know about this discussion or what is said on the group page itself and we won't click it to see if it was changed. People only go by the title only. Don't be shocked if you get lots of other things that people consider traditional.

I guess its doing pretty well considering you featured 4 of your own works....

Right now I have 12 groups called - digital art. I don't know if any one of those groups have special instructions or not, because they labeled it as if it was obvious and unique, when its not. If you look up traditional art in the groups, you get painting groups but only because they said so in the title. I know when I look for groups to put stuff in, I will do a search in my list - paintings. I would never think to type in traditional.

Just like there is a group called - architectural. Which is fine except they put a space between all the letters and I never see it because it doesn't search well. Same with with an H D R group i'm on, can't search for it. And it doesn't group with the others either. I like things organized, so it would be -- Painting - Traditional, so I can check it off with the others.
