Abs Computers

Anybody here bought an ABS computer?
Just wondering.
ABS is the house brand of newegg.
Reports all over the place about bad computers, bad customer service, bad video cards, and so forth.
Just wondering if anybody here has had a good experience with an ABS computer.

I keep thinking the computer was printed or made in ABS plastic. Never heard of that brand.

Dan,

Depending on what level of computer you're thinking of probably has a lot to do with quality. Here's a review of a high-end gamer PC:

As I did, I would find a local shop that builds on computers and design/make your own, which I did and came out under $1,000.

Dan, I know nothing of this, but a reliable friend told me he always builds his own using something called Raspberry Pi. I know he is tech savy so am sure it works. I am not so never tried it. Just thought I would pass the info along.

From what I know raspberri pi is a small device used to program things like cameras, often used on 3d cameras. But I didn't think you could run a computer with it. I usually build my own. I look at forums to see what the latest best thing is, and check the price, hair stands on end, goes back to see what the second best thing is. And go with that. Once you have the base parts, provided they didn't change the power system like they did with me, a lot of it can be used again. Video card, power, case, drives, etc. The only things I replace are the motherboard, ram and chipset. Probably a new cooler as my current one I think is breaking down. Depending how fancy you are, it won't cost a ton. Maybe now it will but at some point it might go down.

At some point i'll use rasperry pi to control my printer and get a different web cam for it. But that's a learning curve on its own.

As mentioned, ABS is the housebrand of Newegg.

Always seem to be on sale.
Reviews are not too good, even the high end gaming desktops.
Bad reviews seem to revolve around Customer Service / Tech Support
Especially bad complaints about bad / non performing video cards.
Just thought I would ask.

Used to build my own. Not into that any more.
