I'd like to go with Photography, but there are only 48 weeks involved until August 1, 2024.
Did you mean to end on the first of August or do you want to end on the last of August?
August 30th would be a FULL year of 52 weeks.

I will try and i choose traditional medium, please, specifically Watercolor and pencils.

As a gluten for punishment, I will struggle with this digital stylus and tablet I recently bought.
By the end of the year, I shall hope to have control of this medium.
It doesn't seem to be made for left-handed artists.
The theme works for me because I do primarily landscapes and seascapes.
So, I'll give this one a try. Photography.

@Roger, nothing is made for left handed creatives...... you might however find a setting that lets you switch from right to left
oh well, here we go, I am signing up with Photography - after doing the yearly one a day I guess I should manage the one a week, thank you

It's 1 sept to 1 August next year. Each of those days of the first day
Roger, what tablet are you using

UGEE M708.
Since, I'm currently using the stylus as a "mouse" with gimp. I didn't see a need to install a program.
Now, after seeing the introductory video again, I see that I need the program to change over to left-handed.
Abbie,
This befuddled old coot, mistakenly downloaded the program five times....Once I realized that , I deleted four of them....Then opened the fifth...Went through the procedure proscribed.
BUT I DON'T SEE THE RESULTS
As indicated on the video, where supposedly I can convert to "Left-Handed"
The more I delve into this digital universe, the more frustrated I become
I suppose that I will have to bother my good friend again to sit by me, here in front of this computer, to, with a few clicks, solve this new problem

This challenge is making me edit photographs that I have wanted to do for months. So that's good! I have also tried to get out in the garden while there are still summer flowers to photograph.
These challenges do definitely help me with motivation. Plus, it's great to see what everyone else posts.

I hope everything is going well, Gaby!
For my week 3 I painted a blue crab because in Italy it's always on the news, fishermen are so worried.

Gaby, I'm hoping you will give us an update on your husband and that it will be good news!

Thanks, Kathy, for your concern. I didn't want to take over this thread with our woes. He got to come home Monday - he has been diagnosed with CHF so we are on a track to get a medication regimen that will get him comfortable and not short of breath. I appreciate the prayers from you and the thoughts from everyone. :)

Gaby, all the positive thoughts I can muster are sent to you and your husband for a speedy recovery.
James Mc, thanks for the Mrs Dumfries comment and yes, I will try to keep
using the Dumfries as theme for awhile… or until they tell me to get lost… lol
I just posted my week 3 entries of Humpy Dumpty’s ancestors, the Dumfries family.
Humphry Dumfries is the one I will probably feature the most.
This weeks drawing is Humphry reflecting on and visulising his thoughts
while sitting in his boat.
This weeks sculpture is a air-dry clay piece of Humphry playing cards
and he has I think, a full house.

Gaby, I'm so happy to hear your hubby is home and on the mend. I hope for continued healing and strength to fight through life's adversities.
Abbie and the support staff of this year long challenge.
A BIG thank you!! This challenge has me picking up my camera again routinely, and that's something I haven't done in a really long time. I am creating again and greatly enjoying the time I am spending on not only creating something for the challenge each week but also adding to my portfolio at least several new images a week as a result of my happy snapping. I know when the summer heat returns next year and this challenge will be nearing the end, it will get harder to keep the commitment but I have ever intention of going all the way. For sanity purposes if for no other reason. :)
This not only positively impacts my art biz, it is also impacting my mental health in very positive ways, and at a time when I could use the reinforcements to keep me balanced. I am willing to bet there are a lot of us that find our calm and our joy through artistic expression, and just being out in the natural world. I hope each of you keep at it too, even when you aren't really feeling it, throughout the year. Because I have been enjoying what you guys are discovering each week as well.
"Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in." :)

Gaby, how did I miss this!! So so sorry to hear about your husband!! You have my prayers for a complete recovery and that the medicines will work on this CHF!!

Gaby, just catching up on this thread, thoughts and prayers for further good news.
Well, back to oil painting for week three, I had almost forgotten how emotional it can be, in part because I make some of my own materials. That connection makes a difference, it also affects what I paint, in this case a colourful response to a legal victory to preserve land behind my house, and my light for painting.

Gaby, Came to this thread for the first time since I signed up, I am so sorry to hear about your husband.

Angie I'm having the same experience. I quit painting about 40 years ago when I had young kids and was working a lot of overtime - then about 25 years ago I switched over to photography and really, really found my niche, but I missed the traditional art. So I committed to drawing for this challenge and it's SOOOO nice to do traditional work again. I'm rusty, but it's coming along ok.
I started week 4 this morning - got up early - and just took a break to scroll around in here for a bit. I think this one will take me maybe two or three hours, so I hope to finish it some time after lunch.
I've found if I pick the reference photo the night before, I stick with it and don't second guess, which is an annoying habit I have.
Anyway, this is fun.

Thanks Val.
Hubby is finally feeling better, the good doctor has a Rx mix that is helping him. Thanks all for your thoughts and prayers.
