Congress Bridge Bats Austin Texas



This watercolor painting captures an amazing Austin Texas sunset sky filled with bats as they emerge from Congress Bridge.

A colony of over 1 million Mexican free-tailed bats lives under this bridge. From March to November when the sun sets, the bats blanket the sky in spirals as they head out to forage for food.

The sidewalk atop the bridge fills with people to view the scene. My favorite views are from Lady Bird Lake below the bridge.

You can watch the bats from the Statesman grassy knoll or take a boat cruise, rent a kayak, SUP or bicycle to enjoy this exciting experience.

This evening event is a popular outing for locals & visitors!

Hamilton Pool Texas



This watercolor painting captures the view from inside the cave at Hamilton Pool Preserve. The cave is a natural grotto with a swimming hole fed by lovely small waterfalls.

Natural erosion from an underground river created the pool & minerals in the water flowing from above create stalactites in the cave ceiling.

The color of the water & flow rate change with the season & rainfall.

No matter the weather, this scenic landmark landscape can be enjoyed year-round. Explore the hiking trails, Pedernales river & beautiful Texas Hill Country views.

Fishing with Grandpa



This watercolor painting captures a grandfather & grandson on a pond fishing dock. The timeless tradition of passing knowledge down generations occurs over a lifetime of moments.

The man holds a fishing rod & offers "how-to" instructions to the little boy. The young child seems intent to learn from his beloved grandpa fisherman.

The dock is simple wood slats & posts with rope rails. Green algae float on the surface of the calm reflective water. Beautiful weeping willow tree branches drape lazily over the pond.

A sweet nostalgic scene of quality time, bonding & togetherness on summer vacation.

A waterfront white wood gazebo on the grassy shore is naturally framed by tall forest trees.

Austin Texas Mayfield Park

Sunset on Mount Bonnell



This watercolor painting captures the famous sunset view from Mt Bonnell in Austin. This Central Texas classic landmark is one of Austin’s oldest attractions, dating back to the 1850s.

It's the tallest peak in town, rising 775 feet. Almost 200 feet of that elevation are 102 limestone steps up the summit.

Once you reach the top, you can catch your breath at the pavilion & enjoy the sweeping landscape views over Lake Austin.

To the west is the famous 360 bridge & the expansive Hill Country. To the southeast is the ever-changing downtown skyline.

Mt Bonnell is one of my favorite destinations to share with my out-of-town guests.

This watercolor painting captures the Austin Texas skyline view from Town Lake, (also known as Lady Bird Lake). A soft sunset slowly turns the blue sky pink & lights from the city shimmer on the calm water.

The state capitol was once the tallest building in all of TEXAS & now it's dwarfed by skyscrapers.

Recognizable architectural features of downtown are the tall Austonian, the 3 layers topped 100 Congress Avenue building & the beautifully lit top of the Frost Bank Tower.

Mt. Hood Timberline Trail Oregon



This watercolor painting captures the majestic peak of Mount Hood Oregon viewed from the Timberline Trail. The hillside is blanketed with wildflowers in bloom, including the lovely purple-pink lupine.

The flowering alpine meadow leads up to evergreen pine trees & to the raw beauty of the dormant volcano mountain high in the clear blue sky.

This year-round snowy peak is topped with 12 glaciers. It's the fourth-highest peak in the Cascade Mountain Range & Oregon’s tallest mountain & can be seen from miles away.

I was commissioned to paint this beautiful scene for the trail hikers as a special way to commemorate their adventures.

San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge Impressionism



This watercolor painting captures the beautiful San Francisco California Golden Gate Bridge. Traveling one end to the other you may experience the magical shift from TOTAL fog to clear blue sky!

This impressionistic scene shows the view from the Presidio looking towards Marin on the opposite shore. A clear day, blue sky with soft white clouds. Reflections of the red towers dance on the blue water.

The bridge is one of the seven wonders of the modern world and San Francisco's most famous landmark. This suspension bridge spans the channel between San Francisco Bay & the Pacific Ocean. Cross the bridge by auto, or walk / bicycle on the sidewalk.
