Zeitpyramide - The 4th Block Is Laid. But Is It Art?

ICYMI: in the town of Wemding, Germany the Zeitpyramide is being slowly built as an art installation. One block is being added every 10 years to build a pyramid over a 1200 year timespan. The project was started in 1993 on the 1200th anniversary of the town's founding.

The 4th block was added 9-Sep-2023. The pyramid is expected to be completed in 3183 CE, although we'll never know.

Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Wow!

A quite... permanently-cemented art installation. My only concern is that by 3183, the first blocks might turn jet black, making it look like Ying-Yang, in a blocky way.

I suspect the intent of this will be long forgotten before 3183 and therefore never completed.

Weird and ugly

They should be decorated blocks, highlighting each decade's popular art trends.

Wonder ???

I agree with Becky. Decorating them, maybe with a mosaic, would be way more artistic.

May be a metaphor for the speed of their bureaucracy ???

The style is very outdated.

What is cement architecture called?
Brutalist Architecture: Everything You Need to Know ...
Often inspiring strong emotions—both those of love and hate—Brutalist architecture remains one of the most divisive architectural styles of the modern age. “The style is characterized by raw, exposed concrete and bold geometric forms,” Mark Bittoni, principal of Bittoni Architects says.Jul 12, 2023

It was a form of architecture from the 1950s to 1970s. It was not at all appreciated. The Russians had a degree of it long beforehand.
While this project will be somewhat unique, it has basically been done before in the theoretical of art history. More than theoretical it is all over the place now.

Whatever it is, we should applaud the author of this installation and the local public, politicians, and companies who support it.

It is valuable in our World of spectacular failures of most politicians who could not keep over 140 characters in mind and their inability and reluctance to see over a few years' horizon both back in history and forward in the future.

I think this deliberately slow "simple" work is in good contrast to the "instant masterpieces" technology can now help us produce.

No instant gratification from this work, but lots of patience for it to be "done".
