Inspiring Photography Websites

Any photography websites, events or photographers that you enjoy or find inspiring? Share them here! Please note that this is not an image sharing thread for your own work or others at FAA (although liking to an FAA member's portfolio is fine)

I went to the World Press Photo exhibition yesterday and saw some stunning photography there. My favorite was this one:

https://www.worldpressphoto.org/collection/photo-contest/2023/Lee-Ann-Olwage/1
The actual prints looked much nicer than what I see on my screen; more vibrant and alive.

Other contest winners are available here

Thanks Pebbledune. Could you add the links to their works if you have the time?

I also regularly visit The Guardian for it's wonderful photography. Check it out here:

Interesting interview with Henry Ditz, who photographed many iconic musicians and is responsible for a lot of iconic album covers such as Morrison Hotel by the Doors.

I’m on the mailing list for Peter Fetterman Gallery out of California. I get a daily image and quote from a known photographer.

Yes, they’re trying to sell the prints.

No matter, I love the image they send.

Good thread.

Tyler Shields https://www.tylershields.com/

He is a good photographer but I like him mostly because of his photographic eye.

Those are all so great!

I HOPE you all were not being notified every time I edited my two posts. I apologize for the activity spam if so.

I'm new and I just realized I needed to wrap the main html tag around the entire post to make the external links work otherwise the local domain was prepended to the URL. Is this true for others as well? If not, I may have a dns config issue.

so may great sources! Thanks for sharing.

Pebbledune, thanks for making the links clickable. I think you need to hit enter after a link for it to work. I particularly enjoyed Jennifer Wenrick's dolphins. Wonderful!

Mike Wardinsky is also excellent, such a great eye. And Tyler Shields is just next level good.

The Fetterman Gallery has some great stuff. Might be considered a competitor to FAA so I won't post the link.

Two of my favorite photographers of all time are Fan Ho and Weegee. Fan Ho was a street photographer documenting Hong Kong from the mid 50s on. His use of light and composition are outstanding.
Weegee was a street photographer and photo journalist in New York who is famous for his crime scene photos. He would regularly show up before the people, which earned him his nickname (Ouija).

Wildlife Photographer of the Year Awards are something I look forward to each year. If I remember rightly, photographers on this site have been winners in the past.

The list is long

I wrote about most of these in my blog https://rudyumans.com/blogs/notable-photographers/ or here https://ourartsmagazine.com/blog/2023/06/05/notable-photographers/

I know, shameless plug, but I did research most on the list extensively, so it might be interesting read for some

Not really something that I can link to, but I'm constantly inspired by photographers that live in my home state of RI and others from the New England region. It's great to see landscape photos from all over the world and all...but I find it helps keep me excited about my home turf, to keep an eye on what others in the area are doing in spots that are very accessible to me.

Seeing others photos from the same sunrise/sunset or exact same weather I was presented with really keeps things in perspective for me. Especially when I feel like my images fell short, and others were absolutely killing it.
