We have black raspberries on our property that are ready for picking in July. I love to have them on cereal and in yogurt every morning during the short season they are there. And there is something so satisfying about going out and picking them, even with the horseflies and thorns. Here is a watercolor from this past season.

I am a landscape painter at heart, with a long apprenticeship to abstraction, and a love for plants, particularly of the carnivorous variety. I have also been a photographer for about as long as I've been a painter, and so you'll see galleries of selected photographs along with my paintings and drawings. I have been growing, photographing and looking at carnivorous plants in the field for most of my life. Orchids, bromeliads, ferns and other plants have caught my eye along the way as well, and recently I have taken to drawing and painting the apples from our trees and the roadside wild flowers at the end of our driveway.
