Description
Cheetah feeding. View of a cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) feeding on a kill. Two other cheetahs are waiting to feed. A hyena is looking on (upper left), hoping to scavenge some meat. Cheetahs are carnivorous cats which inhabit the open plains of Africa and parts of Asia. They are the fastest land animal, able to reach 110 kilometres per hour in short bursts. They use their speed to catch their prey, sprinting at them from close range having hidden themselves nearby. The females are solitary animals, unless they are with their cubs. Males live alone, or with one or two others. However, large groups of mixed sex have been seen. Photographed in the Masai Mara reserve, Kenya.
