Looking out over the beautiful gardens of the Berbie Palace, towards the Pont Vieux, a medieval bridge dating to 1040 over the River Tarn in Albi.

Albi was an active centre of Catharism, giving its name to the Albigensian heresy, which led to the Albigensian Crusade (1209) and later to the development of the Inquisition. The 13th-century red brick Berbie Palace, was an archbishop’s palace that is now the Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec museum where the works of, a native of Albi, are displayed.
