Description
A single American White Ibis decided to land in the surf right in front of me on a deserted portion of beach at Lely Barefoot Beach Preserve in Naples, Florida. It must of thought I was fishing and would give it a free meal. Ibis are usually seen in groups often in large numbers. They are the most abundant wading bird in Florida, particularly in freshwater sites though some are attracted to salt water areas. During the breeding season Ibis' in large colonies, some with 30,000 birds which gives you an idea of just how social they are.
