This is a palette knife oil painting representing a night scene from the Jacobins Square in Lyon city. I was inspired for this work by the beautiful lighting realized during the Festival of Lights in Lyon, France.
The Place des Jacobins is a square located in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon. It was created in 1556 and a fountain was added in 1856. The square belongs to the zone classified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. According to Jean Pelletier, this square is among the most famous one of Lyon, because of its location in the center of the 2nd arrondissement and its heavy traffic, as 12 streets lead here. The square, particularly its architecture and its features, has changed its appearance many times throughout years.
The place and the fountain des Jacobins in Lyon's peninsula have been freshly renovated in 2013, after 2 years of work.

This is certainly one of my favorites................of course...............they are all brilliant! It is so dramatic, projecting an aura that is fascinating, as is creative by magic. A truly wonderful canvas Mona, I am quite sure it sold before that delicious paint was dry!! LF!

Mona: This is truly a masterpiece. I am surprised that you have not made it available as prints through Fine Art America. I have traveled extensively in France, but unfortunately never made it to Lyon.
Mona Edulesco replied:
Thank you so much Carl! It is available as prints...:) as all my works. You should visit Lyon one day, it really worth.

How on earth did I ever miss this spectacular painting Mona??? (Ahh, I was in hospital when you posted!) Now I've a new favorite. There simply is no one who paints as precisely and expressively with the palette knife like you do. Absolutely brilliant work. F/L FB T G P

So BOLD....and so beautiful, Mona. Anyone would be proud to display this on a living room wall. Well done.

This one re-defines "dramatic". The tonal and color choices are superb, the paint handling stunning and the effect is thrilling. That band of mauve/violet boarded by the glue and the light green sets the stage for the rest of the wonderful drama. Superb work!!
