This iconic tree and mailbox are alongside the highway leading from Santa Fe to Taos, New Mexico. I have passed it over the years, and was finally able to make an image of the cottonwood in its bare beauty. With the ongoing drought, I often wonder if this tree will survive. The mountains in the distance are across the Rio Grande Gorge.

I know this tree! Wonderful capture & very effective composition.
Mary Lee Dereske replied:
You're one of few that recognize it. I dread the day that I drive north to Taos and round the corner coming out of the canyon onto the mesa and the tree has fallen over. It's always been a personal symbols to me that I'm in northern NM again! Thanks for the comment.
