Description
A family of great egrets nesting at a rookery in Florida during the winter months seem to be communicating on how the kids are behaving in between feedings. It takes a lot of patience and hard work to keep these large juvenile egrets well fed and happy. Great egrets, also known as white herons, white egrets, and common egrets are making a comeback after almost being annihilated in the late nineteenth century when their beautiful white plumage was widely sought after. They prefer to build their nests on islands surrounded by water to keep away some of the land predators such as the raccoon, coyotes, and the likes.
