Not to disappoint any one but this image is of St. Lucy. A first century martyr who refused to denounce her faith. The Romans then gauged her eyes out. That's what's on the plate she holds. Her eye balls. The palm branch represents her martyrdom, witness, to Christ. A favorite saint among Italians. Many of whom immigrated to New Orleans. Like my familly
